Young is Old - Rust should Sleep

young is old
From back in the day, as long as I can remember, I've been a big CSNY fan. I still get the chills at the harmonies and chord progressions in Suite Judy Blue Eyes. And even though the "Y" in the CSNY, didn't last that long, I've always liked Neil Young as a creative talent, and old school rocker. I mean, what's not to like about an over driven Les Paul blasting out of a stack of Marshalls with enough volume to shake your fillings loose? This guy knows how to turn it up, and rock the way rock should be performed. However, as time passes, we all reach our prime and then fade away into irrelevance. Neil has forgotten his own lyrics, "Better to burn out, than fade away". Alas, Neil has faded, and now, pathetically has decided that to get back into relevance, he should produce a no holds barred attack on his own country and the President. (Actually, his own country is Canada, but lets face it, there aren't enough Canadians to buy his music, so he's made the US his home - more bucks).

Well, sorry Neil, your new album will not find it's way into my iPod. It's easy to rip the president; all your buddies are doing it. As a committed communist, it's the safe thing to do. I would respect Young, or any of the leftists in the entertainment industry, a lot more if they would focus their creative energy on blasting the real enemy - Islam, rather than attacking the only force in the world attempting to preserve their over compensated, cushy lifestyle.

Hey Neil! How 'bout an album called, "Muslims Suck!"? You could have songs on it with titles like, "Allah, The Mythical Moon God", or "Hey Moron, There Aint No Virgins in Islamic Heaven", or "My Boyfriend Stuck an IED Up My Ass", or maybe, "Mohammed's Favorite Wife Was a Camel", or how about, "Cave Dwelling Blues", or finally, "There's No Time like Medieval Time". I think we all would go out and buy music or movies that represented reality like that as opposed to the ignorant and simple, "Bush is evil" theme that is so prevalent in the music and entertainment industry today. But, given the Rusted shut mindset of the leftists today; I won't be holding my breath. Again, Neil, it's time for Rust to Sleep.

Thanks for the comment Scud.

I think Neil wrote Southern Man especially for you.

You seem a bit intolerant.

Happy Easter!

But then again, I don't think you go to church or pray.

scud said...

Wrong on all counts, but thanks for the comment. Hope your Easter was blessed as well.

Just curious: what was it about Neil Young that made you think he'd endorse President Bush and his policies?

BTW: Republicans are supposed to listen to Toby Keith and Ricky Skaggs. Didn't you get the talking point?

lazerlou said...

Well there is obviously a reason you are a commercial photographer in the middle of nowhere. How's business for ya? I'm sure your faith sustains you when yoru talent can't.

You've inspired me to buy 10 of Neil's new albums. Thank God you are in Minn, where your vote is neutralized by someone who can think well.

scud said...

Touche'. I had hoped that his later stage of life had brought him over to the side of enlightenment.

And you're right, Keith and Skaggs are great too. Although I missed the memo.

Anonymous said...

That's what I love about you people...you think you're truly the enlightened ones.

If enlightened means eager to lie, kill, and oppress everybody who doesn't look like you, I sho am happy to be sittin in the dark!

Keep on rockin in the free world...

Maybe we should just be satisfied with looking to people like Neil Young and Ted Nugent for their music and not for political guidance.

I wasn't around last week and didn't get a chance to join in on your Mexican invasion topic. So, if you'll indulge me for a minute, I like to make a belated post on that subject. I have a newspaper article from a couple of years ago, that unfortunately I can't locate right now. But anyway, the gist of the article was that it contained a listing of actual complaints by citizens and officials of Texas about the illegal immigration problem. Actual documented examples of illegals coming in, putting demands on local resources, demanding special treatment, not respecting local laws and customs. And worst of all, retaining their native language and allegiance to their country of origin. Now the kicker to this whole thing being, these complaints were from the early 1800's. The people making them were Mexicans, the illegal immigrants were from the United States and Texas wasn't Texas yet, it was still part of Mexico.

Though illegal immigration is doubtless a big problem for us, just as it was for the Mexicans a 180 years ago. It's not hard to see why they might feel Turnabout is Fair Play.

Let's be clear, this unseemly spectacle in which generals whine publically about the SECDEF occured on George W. Bush's watch. And make no mistake, it IS a spectacle. The generals who call for Rummy's resignation volunteered to implement the invasion plan. Had it succeeded they'd be jackbooting down Broadway and grabbing all the young girl ass they could find. Yes, Rumsfailed is incompetent but these idiots enabled quagmire until retirement intervened. To prevent a headlong drive over the cliff, it's vital to grab the keys before the engine is started.

Lazerlou,
Thanks for your input and concern for my business. It's doing just fine thank you, as is my faith. Some of the best creative talent in the country reside and work here. I am proud to be among them. Our business has been doing great for several years, thanks to bold economic leadership by this administration and the efforts of the business community.

Good luck with old Neil's new album. Maybe when you're sick of it after the first time through, you can make them into some cool mobile that you can hang by your window to stare at while you hallucinate about the greatness of liberalism. And by the way, MN is turning Red, just wait and see. Franken will be shellacked if he runs for senate.

lazerlou said...

Wow it took you that long for a retort? And that was as creative as you can get? Something about hallucinating and making a mobile out of an album? No wonder you could never hack it in fine art.

Scud, it would be one thing if you were successful and had wealth to protect, but as a lower middle class country hick, I can safely say your conservativism is the product of your religious brainwashing. Yea I'm sure Bush's taxcuts for the wealthy have done you wonders. Too bad you've never had a capital gain to report in your life. Maybe that $100 off on your taxes got you extra ammo at walmart or something.

Scud, I think you've taken this all wrong. NY is obviously critical of Bush, in a fiery and passionate way. Where as your comments against Muslim seem like childish slander. He's not saying Bush is a bible bashing kiddie fiddler or something. He's making his point that he stands against that. I find it amazing that any educated person cannot at least respect someone's courage to stand for their beliefs no matter what they are.

My friends, turn with me now if you will to the Sacred Book of Liberalism, chapter one, page one. Read with me, "And yea, though we be considered filth and be hated by the multitudes, let us not grow weary as we strive for decadence in all things. Brethren, hold fast to the values that make us who we are: hedonistic, securalist, amoral, arrogant, and deceitful. Though our numbers dwindle, we will hold fast to our obsession with Self. We strive for a world without Truth, all is relative. We spurn God and all religion, except, of course, for the teachings of Islam for, as cowards, we fear the Freedom Fighters and seek not to agitate them and light the fire of their anger thereby endangering ourselves with suicidal attacks. Let us continuously attack all that is good and righteous, let us destroy all traditional institutions of civilized society. Embrace perversity of all kinds and forms. Be it sodomy, polygamy, same-sex unions, it matters not. We strive for a sexless, gender-confused society where any relationship is acceptable, be it man or beast. Let us suckle deeply from the Governmental Teat, drinking voraciously of its expensive goodness. We believe in Socialism. We despise the United States of America and the great principles on which She was founded. We believe that the Constitution is a temporal document, free to be manipulated and changed at any time. Wealth and success are always evil. We strive for One World; we have no right to be a Superpower. We desire Globalism at any cost. Boldly kill the defenseless people who, though cannot speak and defend themselves, must be liquidated for whimsical reasons. Give us the aborted unborn, their once perfectly formed bodies, now horribly mutilated and torn, providing sweet fodder for glorious medical research. Science and technology are our gods, we trust them implicitly. And lo, we may be called scum, trash, treasonous garbage of the worst sort, we must and will persevere, never surrendering to our enemies."

Dear friends, reflect upon these wonderful words that we have just read and remember, as liberals we are persecuted but are always right about everything. So go out this week and live boldly, obnoxiously, and be annoying to everyone within listening range. Absorb and take to heart what our brilliant and educated Leaders say: Streisand, Oprah, Clooney, Kerry, and Kennedy, and the rest of our most beloved and sacred orators. Feast daily on what the Mainstream Media teaches us for they are, by definition, pure Truth. Preach tolerance but be intolerant of anyone with a divergent viewpoint. Live in a world of denial and hypocrisy. Go now in hatefulness, bigotry, and pride; agitating, aggravating, criticizing, and lying.

Amen.

Scud: I assume that Fox News is a brand you trust. According to their lastest poll, the President has a 33% approval rating. Granted that's not Nixon, but it's close...

Jeff (couldn't stand Bush before it was fashionable)

As for fatherlib, there is so much bullshit in that sermon it's getting hard to breath. Let's start with teat sucking, an act that usually provides a nice prelude. In the last election there were twenty-two states with a balance of payments surplus. Of those, eighteen (82%) voted for Bush. The states lining up at the Federal trough are predominately red.

I don't get the hang-up with relativism. Are there people still running around the heartland with Sartre books? Seems odd. With regard to some of those other adjectives, "amoral, arrogant, and deceitful" are perfect descriptors for the current administration.

On the moral decay front, care to name a few names? I'd like to know *who* advocates "perversity of all kinds and forms", including beastiality. As far as polygamy is concerned, the chief practitioners hail from states good and red, Utah, Arizona and Idaho.

The Constitution *is* a amendable document but liberals are generally happy with the strict criteria for change. As I recall, it was CONSERVATIVES led by rookie senator John Asscrack who tried to amend it in order to make it easier to amend. All told, he proposed seven Consititutional amendments in six years. This pattern of behavior was reinforced by the current President who nominated him his first attorney general.

I'm not sure why you fear science. It's a human method. You are free to ignore its conclusions and believe what you want. We may snicker behind your back but no one wants to change your faith in a 6000 year old earth.

Contrary to your assertion, we don't desire globalism; we desire open markets. Openness most assuredly leads increased trade and cultural exchanges. And the problem is?

Finally, a clue: If you are going to berate leaders of the liberal movement, then please, at least pick name some liberals. I'm not sure what Oprah Winfrey is but I've seen little to indicate that she's a liberal. Her taste in literature is a bit middlebrow but then so is mine. At least we have something in common: a shared affection for Pearl Buck and John Steinbeck.

Sorry, one more clue: Liberalism and socialism are mutually exclusive.

Jeff, my sweet pilgrim, hate me not. As liberals, we face a difficult road. It is a sad fact that our Conservative enemies are far more superior to us socially, ethically, morally, and, especially, intellectually. But do not let that deter you from your duty. For where we lack in these areas, we more than make up in others: bitterness, corruption, lying, hatred, sarcasm, and sowing the seeds of discord. Only through unity can we spread our sickness across the Land. Stand with me brother and take heart as we attack our sworn enemies. They may be healthier, happier, wealthier, far more stable, far more successful at home and in their careers, and far more educated, we can still win.

Fatherlib, it's become all to obvious the rigors of time have taken a toll on you. Sadly, your once formidable liberal thought process has degenerated to a level where it's now equal to that of a conservative. This diminished ability to reason has caused you to fall prey to the false prophets, like Tom Delay and Scooter Libby. Devoted disciples of the false teachings of the Book of Bush, which by the way is playing to an ever shrinking flock. So, Fatherlib, as Pat Robertson is to the Conservatives, so to are you, to the Libs.

Fear not fatherlib. Most rightards are stuck in places nobody in their right mind would live: Iowa, Utah, Wyoming, Tennesee, Mississippi, Ohio, North Dakota, Texas, Idaho, Alabama and at least one small sliver of Minnesota. Look at Bush's numbers in the Northeast, PA: 30%, NJ: 28%, NY: 24%, CT: 24%, RI: 24%, MA: 26%, VT: 27%, NH: 36%, ME: 31%

You see, fatherlib, it's a regional thing. When Noah's family de-Arked, the smart ones wandered into the Northeast while the dumbasses scattered every where else. They got NASCAR and we got world class museums....

scud said...

Yeh, museums to view the past but never learn from it. What a waste. I'd rather have Nascar.

You really need to move: Try the Bible Belt. They've got all the turnin' left corporate advertisements, guns, pawn shops and nudie bars a middle-aged Republican can want.

On our last trip north, we saw a pickup truck with stars and bars and a bumper sticker that read, "Happiness in a north-bound Yankee." No truer words have ever been spoken.

A "Larry the Cable Guy" type character can be entertaining in the role of a comedian. But it was a damn sad day for the country when the rest of cable-minded got together and elected one of their own President. Proof Positive, there's entirely too many cousins marrying cousins in redneck, Red State land.

Since reality has made it painfully apparent to 65% of the nation, that there's absolutely nothing entertaining about a having a Cable Guy in the White House. This leaves the Cable Guy-In-Chief, with only the support of the die hard "kissing cousin" segment of the population. For which reality has always been and will be just a fantasy.

In the time it took anonymous to rip me, Bush's number fell to 31. He's now just three points shy of Nixon, folks.

In the news:

"From the beginning, Iraqis in the town of Haditha said U.S. Marines deliberately killed 15 unarmed Iraqi civilians, including seven women and three children.

One young Iraqi girl said the Marines killed six members of her family, including her parents. “The Americans came into the room where my father was praying,” she said, “and shot him.”

On Wednesday, Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., said the accounts are true.

Military officials told NBC News that the Marine Corps' own evidence appears to show Murtha is right.

A videotape taken by an Iraqi showed the aftermath of the alleged attack: a blood-smeared bedroom floor and bits of what appear to be human flesh and bullet holes on the walls.

The video, obtained by Time magazine, was broadcast a day after town residents told The Associated Press that American troops entered homes on Nov. 19 and shot dead 15 members of two families, including a 3-year-old girl, after a roadside bomb killed a U.S. Marine.

On Nov. 20, U.S. Marines spokesman Capt. Jeffrey Pool issued a statement saying that on the previous day a roadside bomb had killed 15 civilians and a Marine. In a later gunbattle, U.S. and Iraqi troops killed eight insurgents, he said.

U.S. military officials later confirmed that the version of events was wrong.

Murtha, a vocal opponent of the war in Iraq, said at a news conference Wednesday that sources within the military have told him that an internal investigation will show that "there was no firefight, there was no IED (improvised explosive device) that killed these innocent people. Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood."

Military officials say Marine Corp photos taken immediately after the incident show many of the victims were shot at close range, in the head and chest, execution-style. One photo shows a mother and young child bent over on the floor as if in prayer, shot dead, said the officials, who spoke to NBC News on condition of anonymity because the investigation hasn't been completed."

You're right. Young's got nothing to complain about. Maybe he should write a song mocking that dead child! That'd be great. Wow. Funny stuff.
